Expertly applied makeup can enhance the looks of any woman, bringing out
the good qualities in features like the eyes, lips and brows, and
further enhancing already pretty faces. There are many objectives for
applying makeup, depending on the effect you are going for, be it
dramatic, formal, sexy or understated.

The first step in applying makeup is to make sure the skin
is clean. The skin should be washed and moisturized before you begin, as
this will help unclog the pores and help prevent any breakouts. The
main consideration when buying foundation is your skin type; if you have
oily skin, choose a water-based foundation, while if you have dry skin,
choose a rich cream foundation. The next step is to test the color of
the foundation to find the exact shade for your skin tone. You can do
this by applying a little bit of foundation to the underside of your jaw
until you have the right shade. You can use an applicator to smooth the
foundation into the skin by rubbing in circular strokes. Make sure you
apply the foundation to below your jaw area to avoid a situation where
the foundation will be very obvious due to the demarcation line between
your natural skin and the foundation.
Holding a pencil straight down the length of the side of
your nostril to the beginning of your brow will help you determine where
to start plucking your brows with tweezers. Use the tweezers to pluck
the hairs from under the arch of your eyebrows until you have the
desired shape. If your eyebrows are very bushy, use manicure scissors to
trim them a little. When you have shaped your brows, use an eyebrow
pencil to lightly draw a line along the length of your brow, making sure
you add a slight arch toward the end of your brow. If you have dark
hair, you can use an eyebrow pencil that is the same color as your hair,
or one that is one shade lighter for a softer effect. If you have very
light hair, an eyebrow pencil that is a shade or two darker will stand
out more.
Choosing the type of eyeliner to apply depends on the look
you are going for. If your aim is to create a dramatic appearance,
choose a color that is very dark. You can also use things like eyeshadow
and glitter to further enhance the dramatic effect. If you want a
natural look, choose an eyeliner that is just a little darker than your
skin. To apply the eyeliner, trace the length of your upper and lower
lids with the liner.
Beautiful hair can add to beauty and allure. The right
haircut can make lanky hair look bouncier and fuller. It can also soften
a very strong jawline. Reduce the use of hair dryers, which tend to
cause a lot of hair breakage; whenever possible, air dry your hair. If
you must use a blow dryer, use the cool setting to reduce the amount of
heat.
